Xian to Guilin

Xian to Guilin

Hi,

we have a short trip to China planned for late october (10 days) and were thinking of flying from Beijing to Xian to Guilin then back to Beijing.

We have read in the lonely planet China that dragonair fly from Xian to Guilin, but when we checked their website there appeared to be very few flights. We have also checked elong w/o much luck.

Has anyone flown this leg before or could offer any advice about getting tickets for this journey?

Beijing to Xi'an is a good journey to do by overnight train. Very comfortable and good timing. See Seat 61

For flights, there are at least 4-5 flights a day from Xi'an to Guilin (Air China, China Eastern, Hainan) and the same number from Guilin to Beijing. Elong.net is one option. Also try ctrip.com and http://english.yoee.com/

Buy tickets a couple of days in advance when you are in Beijing. Get them delivered to your hotel.

I flew from X to G last week.

I think I was on China Eastern. There are a couple of others. Book ahead, my flight was booked up.Short flight, very comf.

I would also recommend doing Beijing -- Xi'an by overnight train.
China Eastern, Hainan Airlines and Air China are the only 3 airlines flying Xi'an -- Guilin. I would pick Hainan Airlines if possible. Email John in Xi'an about tickets.
