Activity Camp in Khao Sok

Greetings! A few years ago my family stayed at a small place called "Activity Camp" near Khao Sok park entrance. It was made up of 4 or so huts next to the river near a small suspension bridge. It was run by a Thai/German couple. Can anybody tell me if it still operating?

Also there was an island near Krabi where the Phuket-Krabi ferry slowed down to take on some pax from a long tail boat. Anyone of you folks recognize the scenario and give some info about the island? We are looking for a place to spend the time around New Year and understand we need to get ON IT! We arrive EARLY 25 Dec and depart Jan 13.

Cheers to ALL!

I offer this as a formula of reenchantment to invigorate poetry and myth: mysterious and little known organisms live within walking distance of where you sit. Splendor awaits in minute proportions.

Um, I've never caught it but I always thought the Phuket Krabi ferry would call in at Ko Phi Phi. If so, it wasn't Phi Phi.

Just to the east of Phi Phi the ferry goes past Bamboo Island which is small, has a lovely beach and good coral for Thailand - it is National Park and has no accommodation as far as I know. But it gets inundated with daytrip longtails from Phi Phi plus speedboats from Krabi and Phuket.

If the ferry was Phuket-Ao Nang it would later go past Chicken and Egg island and KO Poda. Both are also popular daytrip destinations out of Krabi, Ao Nang and Railay - and Ko Poda also has a bungalow resort tucked into the far south-west end of its beach. This is run by one of the mid-range hotels in Ao Nang.
Anyway if the island you saw was about 10-15 minutes before arriving in Krabi, it was probably one of these.
I have written a fair amount of info on Phi Phi and the Krabi area in the second link below.
