flight to Lhasa

Hey,
Im planning to fly from Chengdu to Lhasa in November. Does anyone know if its ok just to turn up in Chengdu and be able to get on a flight in a day or two or should I book one in advance? Also, after seeing Tibet I plan to leave up to Beijing on the new railway. Is it possible to just buy that train ticket in Lhasa and get on quickly? Cheers for any advice!
