china visa questions

hi, hope someone can help with my chinese visa confusion. I've looked on different embassy websites and they seem to give different information, so I want to know is whether there are any standard rules or if it does just vary from embassy to embassy?

I was hoping to get a double entry visa in berlin. The website says that it is to be used within 3 months, but on the chinese US embassy in the US it says that a double entry visa can be used within 6 months of being issued, and I have seen this written in other places as well. Is there any way to get a visa that could be valid for 6 months without paying for a multiple entry visa?

and I suppose each entry is valid for 1 month - is this right?

also on the website of the embassy to german it mentions that the visa can only be issued no more than 50 days before the start of the journey, but I didn't see this anywhere else. would that also be the case if i got the visa somewhere else? (going by train, and would like to spend more than 50 days travelling to get to china)

Last question: on the website of the chinese embassy in Poland, it says that it will only give visas to non-polish citizens if they are registered as living in poland. is that the case anywhere else?

Thanks for all your help

Listen, if you ask about visas, you have to include your nationality.

There is no way to predict the issuing of visas and more than with most countries it appears to depend upon the visa officer.

In most of Europe it appears increasingly difficult for non residents or non citizens to get a Chinese visa.

If you want to be sure that your visa is valid for entry within 6 months, then your choices are double entry or multiple entry. A single entry visa is almost always only good for 90 days. There are occasional reports of exceptions, but not these are not consistent or guaranteed. Double entry enables you to go to HK and then return to China without getting a new visa.

Some people do get visas for stays of more than 30 days. Usually such reports indicate that they presented an itinerary that showed travel plans of more than 30 days and these plans did NOT include Tibet or Western China. Don't forget that once in China a single visa extension is fairly common and a second extension is sometimes possible.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.

Try to get the visa you need somewhere convenient. If that doesn't work, fly to Hong Kong and get your visas there.
