Looking for 1-2 people to hike the Great Wall independently

Hello,

I am a Czech backpacker, travelling through China and I stopped in Beijing for couple days.

I would like to visit the Great Wall, but I want to avoid the crowded touristy parts of the Wall at Badaling, Mutianyu or even Simatai, which judging from some backpackers' opinions is no longer so remote and isolated. At some hostels, they advertize Jinshanling to Simatai trek for 160 RMB, excluding the entrance fees.

My plan is take the bus 916 from Beijing to Huairou and then take the taxi to the Wall. From what someone told me, the taxi costs about 50 RMB one-way, which could work out very cheap if shared among 2-3 people. No entrance fees if we climb the Wall near Huairou.

I would like to leave Beijing for Huairou on 27th September in the morning and come back the next day on the 28th. This would mean sleeping on the Wall and enjoying the sunset/sunrise. So, sleeping bag or tent and some food are necessary things for 1 night camping.

Let me know ASAP if you want to join me on my number +852+94475351 or email michal_cz (at) yahoo.com. I stay near the Lama temple.

...or any two days before the Golden week starts, (27/28, 28/29, 29/30 September), ie before 1st October. Let me know if anyone is interested.

Also, does anyone know what the travel situation will be like in mid-Golden week from Beijing to the West (Inner Mongolia)?

Cheers, Michal

Beijing -- Datong would be busy, but Inner Mongolia much less so.
Cheers!
