getting Chinese visa in Ulan Bator

hey
I'm a US citizen and I need to get a Chinese visa. I'm in Russia at the moment and I had planned to get my visa here but the Chinese Embassy just changed their policy and it now takes 7 days for US citizens. Now I'm planning to go back to Mongolia to get my chinese visa. Does anyone know whether the policy has changed in Mongolia as well?
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

You asked this question earlier this year and I recall explaining to you then that there have been several reports of US passport holders being unable to get Chinese visas in UB. I don't think the situation has changed from early summer. You might try using a travel agency to assist in UB. Someone on this forum (manulike) had a good experience with Passport Agency in getting a Russian visa but I don't know that they can help with this.

OTOH I often recommend Richard Tian of Ocean Travel in Beijing, whose email is oceantravelcn@yahoo.com.cn or richards@public3.bta.net.cn. Several people have told me that Ocean Travel opened an office in UB so you might try contacting them.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.
