Trip Advice Please!

Hello,
I'm planning a trip to south East Asia with a friend and we are making our schedule for the trip... I'm posting this message on the different forums of the countries we are going to, because is a 36 day- trip to 7 countries! We've never been to Asia before; we are short of budget and time, so we want to see the main important features and attractions.
I would appreciate any advice you could give me regarding: cities and places to we are visiting, transport options and accommodation, and whatever you think. And maybe we are not planning to go somewhere that’s cool, so we are open to change the cities if it’s worth it!
Thank you very much
Mariana

All looks fairly good. I would recommend shaving a few days off Bangkok and Phuket at the end to stay an extra day in Phnom Penh and while you are in Hanoi - you would be crazy to miss out on spending a few days at Halong Bay.

Also - consider doing a trek while in Chiang Mai.

I don't envy all the time you are spending in airports...

I would also seriously consider a Mekong Delta tour while you are in HCM City.

There is so much more to do in Northern and central Thailand. Sukhothai, Kanchanaburi, Ayathaya, Chiang Rai, and especially Khao Yai National Park are well worthy of consideration.

I wasn't too impressed with Bangkok - although that is just my opinion. I think 2 days will suffice.

Anyway - hope this helps with your plans....

too rushed. you need to do Halong Bay in Hanoi which is a 2 day/1 night trip (full 2 days), so you need a minimum of 4 nights in Hanoi. You also need to add time to Hue/HoAn (need 4-5 nights total) and it makes sense to fly to DaNang and bus to HoAn from there and then go to Hue before flying to Hanoi, in that order. You need at least 2 nights in Chiang Mai and you should do the Mekong Delta in HCMC, so 4 nights there. You should really revise to include NIGHTS in places, not days, as it seems you're going to be spending half of your first and last day on that itinerary in transit, so it really doesn't count. 3 nights needed in Siem Reap. Phuket should be fine with 4-5 nights with a side trip to Phi Phi.

Don't spend all your beach stay at Phuket. I suggest you do a few days at Phuket and then a few at one or more of other nice places on the way south towards your goal of Singapore.
eg Phuket - Phi Phi - Lanta
Phuket - Lanta - Ngai or Kradan
Phuket - Railay - Lanta
etc
I have a fair amount of info on these places in the second link below (except Phuket - but in the links list you will find the excellent Jamie's Phuket blog).
