Nice places in Phuket

Im going to Phuket for a long weekend in March 2008. I went this year in July and I Stayed in Patong. I had a great time there, but apart from the island hopping i didnt leave Patong. So next year I was thinking of staying somewhere else so i get to see a little more of the island. I would like some good nightlife similar to Patong and good beaches with watersports. Could anyone give me some advise please? Thanks in advance

Of the most popular beaches, Kata Yai and Noi seem to be the favourites of most TT correspondents. I have visited twice this year and stayed once - they have everything you ask (although not real sleaze nightlife) plus accommodation from budget to super-flash.

Kata Noi is a little off the main track - Kata has more "life", Karon Beach has plenty of accommodation options too and these beaches are only 10 -15 minutes from Patong, so you can stay a little quieter and head out for nightlife. No other place has nightlife the same at Patong. Karon and Kata have a few bars here and there. The rest of the island is out there to be explored!
