Siam Center to DOn Muang on bus

through this awesome forum, I found the cheapest way to travel to/from Suvanabhumi using bus 551 to Victory Monument and vise versa. One month ago, its just cost me 34 baht. Now, I'm flying to CNX out from Don Muang. I can afford to take the taxi but I just want to try using the bus, anybody can guide me though? I can speak a little Thai and I can call my wife anytime if I get lost. How about skytrain to Mochit, and from that??? Which bus number to Don Muang?Do I need to cross the street or waht?and how long will it take?and how much is the fare?Im trying to familiarize myself in Bangkok as possible as I can.Thanks.

...to go or not to go, therefore I go..

You can catch a local train right to the DonMuang Airport. It is a while since I have done it but I think it only costs 10 to 15 baht! Cant help you with the bus, sorry.

I do it weekly or so as I commute to Bangkok. Best bus is bus 510 to BTS Morchit. AC and non-AC buses 29 will also take you there and are frequent, but I always wait for the 510.

Turn left out of the terminal and walk til its easy to turn left and walk through the parking lot to the main road. You will easily see the fairly large well marked bus stop.

You can also catch the 510 to Don Muan from the Jatuchak park side of BTS morchit. The conducter will understand where to let you off if you say Don Muang.

If you go down to the bus stop outside Central World a #13 AC bus ( might have a 5 in front now, ie 513, but you can check ) should take you all the way. However, if you have a big bag, you might have a problem on the local buses, as they are usually pretty full in that area ( not a problem on 551 from Victory as that is where they start from, and haven't filled up yet ).
Otherwise, probably easier to take skytrain to Asoke, MRT to Hua Lumpung, and train, as per # 1, or skytrain to Mo Chit and bus as per # 4 ( no problem with bags on the skytrain ). I found the trains not to be the best way, as not very reliable and often have long halts, so I stopped using them in favour of the bus, then when skytrain started I used system below.
Personally, I found the easiest and reasonably cheap way was skytrain to Mo Chit, and taxi ( on meter ) to Don Muang. Should not be necessary to take expressway, unless at rush hour.

Well, thank u guys, so its bus 510 then from Morchit BTS.I remember Don Muang is not that far from this area, how long will it probably take without traffic? If I will hire a cab from here, Do I need to choose if i want to take the expressway and in this case is there a toll which I should pay?

Oops, should have said turn right out of the terminal. 30-45 minutes or so each way to/from Morchit if light to moderate trafic.
Cab is easy and obvious, probably a better ride on tollway -- don't know toll these days. I hate the taxis because they drive to fast and to unsafe for my taste.

Take the skytrain to Mo Chit and save yourself an hour.

About half an hour all inclusive, from Mo Chit station. Of course you will be unlikely to have a trip without a lot of traffic.
If you take a cab, you can tell the driver not to take the expressway. If you do use the expressway, there is a toll, and you pay it in addition to the fare.
