Hotels fully booked in September

I just started calling around to find a midrange hotel in Lhasa around September 17 and finding them fully booked: KyiChu, Ghorka. I know that people reserve and then not show up, so there may be openings when we arrive, but we want something at least a day or two when we get there. Anyone been there recently and find that rooms are easier to get upon arrival than calling ahead?

Thanks.

Additional question:

I've seen a couple of positive mentions of the Mandala Hotel. Anyone else know more about it, or have contact info, rates, etc?

We've been in the Mandala hotel last May and we are also positive about this hotel. It is located in the Barkhor.
South Barkhor Street No31
The phone number = 0891-6338940 or 0891-6324783.

Good luck!

Is it possible to make reservations without paying in advance?
That's good news!

There's a lot of hotels in Lhasa, so I don't think you'll have a problem finding one.
