Tibet to Nepal - Is December tooo cold?

Hi all,
My heading sums it up. I have a 6 month overland trip planned from Japan to Africa. Everything is in place for the trip and the dates can't be changed. Only now I have realised that it may be too cold to cross the himalaya mountains from Tibet to Nepal in December. Everything hinges on this being a possibility. I read in another link that October was the final month for crossing. Can anybody validate this claim? Does anyone know if it is feasible or dangerous to do this crossing at this time. If it's not feasible what would the limit be?

Thankyou for your information

December is totally fine. days are often cool and clear nights can be cold. Its very unlikely that passes will be closed due to snow (most snow comes after Christmas. But even if you do get delayed by snow it is rarely for very long. Whoever told you October was the final months for crossing is totally misinformed!

It is not dangerous in December and is totally feasable (also cheaper as it is not the tourist season and a driver and guide will be happy for the work)

EBC should be fine in winter as long as the road is clear. The snow here rarely last for that long.....it either blows off or the sun clears it in a few days (different to East Tibet where passes can be closed for months!) Just have some extra days up your sleave and be preapred for some waiting time and adventures!

These days there is no time limit. I would happily drive the friendship Hwy at any time of year. However in Feb/Jan I would pack some extra warm clothes...a good down jacket and a sleeping bag incase I was held up somewhere (oh...and a good bottle of scotch and a book will help you pass the waiting time!)
