China raises visa fees on US citizens

Just to let you know that fees for visas on US passport have increased to $100 across the board according to the Chinese Consulate.

Please be noted that, starting from August 1, 2007, a new visa fee schedule will be applied to U.S. citizens who wish to travel to China.

1. A flat visa fee of $100 per visa will be charged for U.S. passport holders who request regular service.

2. A flat visa fee of $80 per visa will be charged for group visa applicants of U.S. nationality.

3. Additional rush service fee ($30 for same day rush or $20 for second business day rush) will be charged to all applicants (regardless of their nationalities) who request rush service.

4. For citizens other than the U.S., the fee schedule remains unchanged.

If you're a guest for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing get in FRONT of the line for visas.

A special Visa Application Window (#9) is now open for the exclusive use of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games guests. Any qualified applicant may use this window to submit his/her visa application, without having to wait in line with others.

You are welcome to take advantage of this service if you are a guest of BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee of Olympic Games) and have obtained an official invitation issued by the BOCOG.

Can anyone confirm that after August 1st, the visa they will issue is a multiple entry visa?

To clarify, all visas that will be issued to us citizens will be multi-entry, good for up to one year. The only variable will be the duration of stay each visit. This is part of the reciprocal agreement that the USA and China hammered out a year ago.. (The Chinese can now have valid multi-entry visas good for one year to USA. )

Very interesting! If it is true that all visas will normally be one year multiple entry, that will be a MAJOR improvement! I'll believe it when I see it.........
