Leaving Luggage at Dubai Airport?

We have a stopover in Dubai on our way to Europe and I'm going to do some shopping. I had thought I'd be able to just leave the suitcase at the hotel and stay there on the way back for one night and collect the suitcase. Unfortunately the return stopover even though it is for 8 hours is considered a transit and I cannot leave the airport. (Or even if we could there is not time to stay in a hotel) Does anyone know if it is possible to leave a suitcase anywhere at the airport with Emirates or a luggage locker and collect it on the way back. I have tried emailling Emirates but they haven't replied.
They encourage 3 day stop overs and allow more luggage allowance if you do that but I don't want to lug a suitcase around Europe. .
I don't like to ask the people we know there to bring the case to the airport. We arrive in after 10pm and leave again about 8am in the morning.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Theres a left luggage office at the airport. Its on the ground floor (arrivals) close to the taxi ranks.
You will have to go through passport control to get to it, but as you are stopping over on the way in, I guess you can get a visa on arrival and it wont be a problem.

Thanks for the reply. I understood left luggage to mean luggage that you had forgotten to collect when you arrived in a country. in other words left behind. So is there a charge for leaving luggage here do you know? It doesn't appear on the Dubai Airport website. We want to bring back a twin pushchair that we cannot buy in NZ so as you can imagine we don't want to cart this around Europe.

I had this same question. I emailed the airport authorities in Dubai and this was their response:

Dear Angela,

Greetings, we would like to thank you for your correspondence dated 24-07-2007. Concerning your inquiry, we are pleased to inform you that left luggage facility is available at Dubai International Airport and it is located after customs at the Arrival hall (Terminal one). The cost as follows:

10 Dirhams per 12 hours for a standard size baggage

15 Dirhams per 12 hours for oversize baggage
