Chinese Visa Application

Hi,

I'm doing the Trans Manchurian in December at the end of a trip that starts in October. So I'm going through the process of stockpiling visas. I've downloaded the visa application for China and it seems to me that I can apply for my visa now even though I'm not entering China until the end of December. I just put down my entry date as, say, the 20th of December. Am I correct in my assumptions?

Sincerely,

liam Ferney

Usually they give you 3 months to enter from the month that they issue it (that was the case with the visas we got recently). So I'm not sure that your assumptions are correct. They may make exceptions however, you'd probably be best to check with your local Chinese embassy/consulate.

You want to apply for your China visa no more than three months before your departure.

It might depend on your nationality, I don't know, but I recently checked with a visa service and was told they are valid for 6 months from issue date.

I just got my 60 day visa from the embassy in Washington DC, I have 6 months to use it (Jan '08), starting from day after I applied (July 6).

Must depend on Nationality as here in NZ its 3 months.

From China Embassy ( UK )
2. The validity of visa (Enter before)

Before the entries are used up, the visa holder can enter China any day within the validity of the visa. The visa holder is allowed to enter China before 24:00 the day it expires. A single or double entry visa is usually valid for entry within 3 months from the date of issue. The multi-entry visas are of three categories, which are valid for six months, one year and two years respectively.
