Vegetarian restaurants in Guangzhou

Hello again - oops - sorry about the typo in the title of the last post -
I was just wondering if anyone had any reccomendations for any good vegetarian restaurants in Guangzhou or any cool places to eat / visit, including cafe's / tea houses
Anything funky & modern or ancient & classical - or just plain a bit wacky........
Always appeals
Thanks guys
Lesley

There is one VERY famous Chinese Buddhist restaurant which has really delicious food. They have the 'fake' chicken etc and everything is absolutely delicious! It's west of the Chen Jia Ci (Chen Family Temple) (stop in for a visit, but don't buy anything) and Metro stop of the same name. Continue along ZhongShan Lu until the next major intersection, cross the street still heading west and then go up this street to the right(north). It's off the first alley which doglegs and will be straight ahead after the dogleg. Ask someone to write down 'Buddhist restaurant' in Chinese for you and you'll be fine. You could write to Meiguoren here on asiaxpat.
asiaxpat
and she can tell you the name. I've forgotten and she took me there. Check out the other restaurant recs on this page as well.

A very good Turkish restaurant called Sultan is north of the Garden Hotel. Very good food and plenty of vegetarian options.

Gail's 'American' restaurant north of the Garden Hotel has a very extensive menu. Walk north on Tao Jin Lu til it ends and then turn left. It's about one block from there on the south side of the street.

You may be interested in the Nanyue King tomb which is just south of the China Hotel Metro Stop. They actually found a king's tomb in the hillside when excavating and you can go down into it as well as see the stuff that was in it in the museum there.

cheers from Ruth
