shenzhen-hongkong

i would like to spend 3 full days in hong kong (as from thursday evening to sunday evening)
i'm not sure if flying directly to hong kong (from shanghai) or fly to shenzhen and than take a train (or bus...in don't know), because flying to shenzhen is much more cheaper than flying directly to hong kong.
any suggestion? they told me that the train to shenzhen to hk takes 4 hours. is it true? how does the train ticket cost?
if it is too complicated (timetable and price) maybe i was thinking to go to macau or canton. what do you think? i know 3 days are not much, but i work during the week.
i also need to find flight tickets from guiyang to hk (or shenzhen or macau) for a friend of mine. could you help me?

thanks a lot

It is definitely cheaper to fly to Shenzhen, but does take more time. Not 4 hours - maybe 55 min to one hour. You can take a ferry from Shenzhen to HKG. turbojet

ok thanks.

i would like to live on thursday evening and ask one free day from work. the problem is that i live in guiyang. and i can live only from 6pm on, because i'm working. there is a flight from guiyang to shenzhen at 6:30 pm and then i can take the train to hk. and it;s ok.

the second problem is the flight back to guiyang. because the last flight from shenzhen to guiyang is at 6pm..it means that i should live hk at 3pm (train from hk to shenzhen and one hour before at the airport for the checkin). so i would lose half day.

the best choice would be flying directly to hk. but i cannot flight from guiyang to hk. PLEASE HELP ME :-)

maybe i should do a stop over in other city....!?!!??!?!?

what exactly do you mean by train from Shenzhen to HK ?

from Shenzhen BaoAn airport, you get a bus to LouHu border point and then cross over to HK and then take the Rail. (thats what I do). The bus from the airport to LouHu would take around 50 minutes and then you can walk across the border point and you would be in HK. From LoWu (on the HK side, the only way to leave the border control point is by taking the train).

In case you need to take a flight out of Shenzhen at 6pm, crossing the border at LoWu at 4 should be OK i think.

#4 is totally correct. From Hong Kong, if you really don't want to deal with transferring trains to bus, you can get a direct bus from Hong Kong at one of the travel agents near Prince Edward subway station (next to one of the big hotels--forgot name). Of course you would need to get off at the border (Not the LouHu border) go thru customs and get back on the bus again. And that's it...in no time arrival at Shenzhen Airport.

Good Luck
