Visa - tibet/china

Hi all.

I'm planning on travelling from Nepal into Tibet, then into China in about a month - i just have some questions about visas.
I know you need to get a group visa to get into Tibet (especially from Nepal). But with regard to getting a Chinese visa - is it best to tell China that you've been in Tibet? If not where does one count Tibet as ending and China as beginning (so i can list on the visa application form which provinces of China i'll be going through/where i'll be entering China/what date i'll be entering). I'll only be catching the train from Lhasa to Beijing and probably not stopping along the way.

thanks heaps

Hey, Tibet is a part of China. When you are in Tibet, you are already in China. There is no border check between Tibet and other part of China.

We werent able to list Tibet on our visa application forms even though we had tickets out of Nepal at time of application. The guy at the Consulate gave me a marking pen to blacken the name then he accepted the forms.

Oh, but if you get a Chinese visa first, it will be automatically canceled when you get a group visa in Nepal. So, DO NOT get your visa beforehand. Looks like you need to do a bit more reading on the subject.
