Buying train tickets in Shanghai

Hi there, Can anyone tell me if there is any way to buy train tickets from Shanghai in advance (without being in Shanghai)?. I am living in Qingdao at the moment and want to travel from Shanghai to Kunming on the 15th of July. I will get in to Shanghai on the morning of the 15th and I don't like my chances of getting a ticket, on the day, for the train for that evening. Thanks for you help.

I was assisted by a helpful local agent in Xi'an recently, who also has contacts in Beijing & Shanghai.
