Chinese transit visa

Hello,

I am now in Japan. When I fly home in the middle of July, I will have to spend one night in Beijing, and I will therefore need a chinese transit visa. Can anyone advise me on how to obtain such a visa in Tokyo?

Thanks

For the most part China does not offer transit visas so you will need to apply for a tourist visa. You will have to go to the Chinese consulate in Tokyo. Since you didn't mention your passport it is hard to offer much more advice. Check the website of the Chinese consulate in your country for some information and to download an application form.

BTW don't ask a Japanese person as Japanese passport holders don't need Chinese visas for visits of less than 14 days.

My friend who lives in Korea once flew back through Shanghai. She got a transit visa upon arrival, with the prove of a flight next day. I think its best to contact the embassy to be sure you can also do it this way.

Only Shanghai offers transit visas and only if you don't have a US passport or a passport from some third world countries. Beijing does not have this option for any passport holders.
