Katmandu to Lhasa

Hi

Does anyone know what the current visa situation is on travelling overland along the Friendship Highway? Are group visas still being issued for tours and if so does that mean you have to stay with the group when you get to Tibet and the tour has finished?

On a group visa, you need to both enter and exit with the same people.
