China building highway to Everest Base Camp!!!

http://in.news.yahoo.com/070620/211/6h6hf.html

Aaagh!!! This to me is a tragedy! Its not like I am a "free tibet" fanatic, but the above is upsetting. As someone that has returned from Everest base camp, in Tibet, I have fallen in love with the area. Trekking through the silence, natural beauty and wilderness and not see a car in sight - was such a wonderful experience. Now what? are we going to be trekking along a highway to Everest base camp? Will the area now be bomabarded with bus loads of tourists? This EBC trek was so much more wonderful than the Nepal side for the above reasons, now it will be permanently ruined.
Just needed to vent......!!!!!
I just wished there was something we could do!
