extension on a 90 day tourist visa

Hi, I have a UK passport. Can I extend a 90 day tourist visa in mainland china for another 30 or 60 days? I know you can extend a 30 day visa twice, for a total of 90 days, but is this possible with the 90 day tourist visa for a possible 120 or 150 days?

Should be possible. I thought extensions are usually for the same duration of the original visa.
Cheers!

extension on a 90 day-er will be cool. often for another 90 days so long as you are convincingly excited about seeing more of the great middle kingdom.
you may be asked for exactly how many days you want, so be specific, and have an itinerary of some sort ready as 'evidence'.
tertiary towns (ie not capitals or the next big place) seem the best bet.
