Shanghai & Xitang

Hi folks,
Can you please give me some feedback on the 2 hotels
I will be spending 1 night each in Shanghai and Xitang.

East Asia Hotel on Nanjing Lu : Read that this is in the middle of one of the busiest streets in the city. Hows this to get a feel of the city.

Xitang : No ideas. Can someone recommend a good hotel by the canal which I can book ?

East Asia Hotel is ok but I would recommend Shangfu Hotel as the location is a bit better (on the same street but nearer to the metro stop) and I think it's also cheaper.
OP, there're no "hotels" in Xitang old town area proper. There're only homestays/private guesthouses. Let me know if you want a booking.

thanks,

for xitang, yes, i had actually meant private guesthouses/homestays. basically whatever i get in Xitang old town proper.
I would be interested in a booking.
