shanghai to tibet - anyone ?

shanghai to tibet - anyone ?

Is anyone planning a tour from Shanghai to Tibet, anytime between 20th June and the 3rd July (2007)?

I have a single traveller, and happy to join forces with another traveller or group, to reduce the cost. The qoutes I get for single traveller tours to tibet are astronomical.

Shanghai is not the best place to book a trip to Tibet. you'd be better off flying Shanghai-Chengdu and organising your trip from there (individual or group). Chengdu is a popular starting point for tours to Tibet.

My friends are going with a CTS (I think) tour starting on 20/6 in Shanghai, going all the way to EBC and back the same way. I think it's 6000+ RMB each, all train. I'm not sure if they still have spaces though, I'm thinking not.

Thks guys. I may have to fly down to chengdu. But by the time i get a permit, i may have run out of time. i was hoping to organise it before hand.

kgregory I'm also living in Shanghai and I'm thinking of going to Tibet around the 19th. I haven't really planned a route yet, but I'm pretty sure I will fly to Chengdu first. I'm also looking for travel partners, since I am going alone. Are you still interested?

SvenH - yes, i am interested. I live in london, and getting a permit from here is like pulling teeth :)

I have tried several routes, and i am waiting for a qoute from another travel company. They promised to get back to me today or tomorrow. If it is too expensive, i will fly to chengdu. I can email you the details, once i get them.

Dear Kgregory,

I am currently living in Shanghai as well and leaving for Chengdu on the 22nd of June. On the 23rd I am flying (together with a friend) to Lhasa and we have a great itinerary organised. It includes a 10 day tour Lhasa-Lhasa including EBC. We are still looking for two people to join us so if you are interested please let me know. The tour company will organise all the permits and plane tickets as well!
On the 4th of July we will leave Lhasa by train.
