Catherine (#3) has described the most cost-effective way of doing this trip, and also much quicker than going all the way into the centre of Hong Kong. Her route begins at the crossing point that is joined on to Shenzhen railway station (easy walking distance, although rather a lot of stairs).10

I have just travelled from Shenzhen Bao An (International Airport) to Hong Kong and back again a few days later (I got a visa renewal in HK). When I got off the plane at Shenzhen Bao An, I went to the counters for transfers to HK International Airport (to take bus to where I was staying). They wouldn't let me take the ferry to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) as I didn't have a connecting flight. However, I was able to take the bus. I think the company was Trans-Island China Link or something similar. This cost me $HKD180. I read their brochure in the bus on the way there and found that I could have taken the bus to Wan Chai for $HKD100, which would have suited me a lot better, but it was too late by then. It took quite a while as we had to go to the border crossing (at Guang-something? I have forgotten the name of the place), go through Chinese immigration and then through HK immigration (about 2km apart) and then take another bus to get to HKIA. The whole process took around 3 hours.Posted By: VenessaP -- 28-Jan-2010 15:01
