Booking Internal Trip in Shenzhen or online?

I will be in Hong Kong for all of July and wish to travel to Beijing on the 1 August for a few days before returning to HK then home to Australia.
I have checked out ctrip.com and there are some good prices for my travel dates (2000RMB return) at the moment, but I am unsure of the process for booking online from Australia, and where and when I can collect my ticket and/or pay.

I was thinking an alternative may be to make a day trip to Shenzhen sometime in July (was going to go shopping there anyway) and while I'm there book locally so I can pay on the spot and receive immediate confirmation. Would I need to see a travel agent for this? I can bring a Chinese friend to translate if that would be an issue.

Any suggestions? I don't mind doing an internet booking from Australia now but I'm just a bit confused from other threads as to the process. If anyone can help out I'd be really grateful!! Thanks.

I think most bookings on elong or ctrip are now email/etickets= no pickups.
BUT; you say youre in HKG anyway long time; MOST HKG agents can do the very same and are quite used to it, you dont need to spill into SZ+visa just for that, it may cost a few HK$ more, but much less as doing the trip just for that as extra. and NO lingo-probs likely either

so you believe anything - on the news? on TV? in your guidebook? on this forum? good luck then - you'll need it!

When you are actually in China especially in Beijing you can ring Ctrip direct and speak English they have a 24 hour service, or you can book online and use English.
However it is cash to have the documents delivered to your hotel or you need to go to their office and might be able to use an international credit card there, ask if you ring on the phone..
I use CTtip, 3 or 4 times a month, book hotels and flights for my Australian guests, family and friends for onward travel within China, same story Elong.
You basically only get those deals when you are IN China.

bmta, I already have a Chinese Visa (multiple entry) so that is not a problem.

Ok, so if I book online from Aust that's ok, but I will probably need to do some credit card verification, right?
