Tibet Travel Tour

Hi all,

I plan to make Tibet travel tour in September this year. I have go an offer from a travel agency of approximately 1400 USD (Programm Tibet, Flight in & Train out).

Is this too expensive?

How much is the normal price if I book in Lhasa? Is it easy to book in Lhasa a private tour?

Furthermore I need the train ticket from Lhasa to Xian in advance, is that possible?

Thanks a lot!

How many days is your tour?So that I can tell it's expensive or not.

I paid about $1100 a person in December for a flight from Beijing to Lhasa, 6 days with a tour guide and driver (required technically), nights in the Shangbala Hotel near the Jokan Temple, and train from Lhasa to Beijing in Soft Sleeper. But do note I tried to haggle down a bit and most places wouldn't budge. Your price might be a tad more since we went in off season instead of on season.

i started researching a trip to tibet for next june - im bored, i want to go, they will crack down and enforce rules strictly now because of the olympics, and the rules always change.

i found chinaodysseytours, they offered 10 days, llhasa - everest base camp for 966 US, including everything but train/plane to llhasa.

i dont know how reliable they are. i found one person on a mission to bring down china odyssey tour on trip advisor, they say its better to stay at the sheraton or hilton and hire a cab or go on your own... but everyone else on the forums say they are good.

something witty

My friends are going on 20/6 starting from Shanghai by train, doing Lhasa-EBC-Lhasa and then train back to Shanghai. I think their tour is about 6000+ RMB.
Cheers!
