Flight from Western China to Chengdu

I tried searching for air ticket from Khasgar-Chengdu but can't find one.
Is there no direct flight from western part of china back to Chengdu or Xian?
I'm going from Chengdu to Khasgar overland and am thinking of flying back cos I don't think i can take the same return trip.

If there are flights,
1) where's the best place to fly out from western china to chengdu or xian? Turpan? Khasgar? Urumqi?
2) How much are the tickets?
3) Buy online or agents in China? Buy in Chengdu or Khasgar/Urumqi/Turpan?
4) Gota book way before hand? (I'll using this ticket late Aug)

Thx tons!

Kirakira :)

try elong.net

It isn't throwing up anything from Kashi to Chengdu, but certainly at least 4 airlines fly from Urumqi to Chengdu daily

Everything, or almost everything, goes through Urumqi. You'll have to fly Kashgar-Urumqi then Urumqi-Chengdu.

I was in this area in August 2003 and the Kashgar-Urumqi flights filled up fast. Get it four or more days early, if you can.

!! Be warned that "students" who want to practice English with you may actually be scammers. In Shanghai they try the Tea Ceremony Scam. In Beijing it's the Art Student Scam. Be very wary if a stranger wants to speak English with you, especially if you are in a tourist area. !!
