1) Yes, Chongqing -- Yichang but it would take you at least 3 days, not 2.3
Thanks for the info. Just did the search and you are right, it doesn't look good. Considering our itinerary (as such) is there somewhere else we could cruise the Yangtse?4
Don't think there's anywhere else for you to cruise the Yangtze. However if you just want to see the dam then you could make a daytrip of it from Yichang. Or if you really want to see the 3 Gorges, do a hydrofoil instead.8
ellyse, you seem to be quite experienced in china.9
#8, please do a search/browse on this forum about the 3 Gorges cruise. This topic has been oft-discussed and I see no need to reiterate myself.10
Re the OP's question about the Dam - it was completed in May 2006. I was there, by chance. the day it was finished. When it will become fully operational is a different matter and depends on how quickly the lake behind the dam can be filled - a few more years I believe."If you want anything said, ask a man. If you want anything done, ask a woman." Margaret Thatcher

I am one of the few people that had a positive Yangtze cruise, Chongqing to Yichang. Sure some of it was dull and our boat was not exactly luxury, but I am so glad I saw Fengdu and I thought the Three Gorges were beautiful. Also the food we bought at the stops along the way was really memorable (maybe cause we were starving only having noodles on the boat)Posted By: VenessaP -- 28-Jan-2010 15:01
