Good Hotel in Beijing

Hi,

I'm a writer who's been traveling the world for 3 years. I'm going to stay in Beijing for 2-3 weeks and I'd like to find a good, moderately priced hotel or apart-hotel in a cool neighborhood. I need a place conducive to the highly scheduled, monotonous life or a writer: write in the morning, take a peek outside in the afternoon, get drunk in the evening.

How much will it cost? Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks. Everyone has always been so helpful on Lonelyplanet.

You could try Lotus hostel. I stayed there for a few weeks following a fairly monotonous lifestyle, & found it conducive. (Area not too touristy and transport's ok.)

That said, they've almost doubled their rates since last spring & still haven't improved their (useless) map. (The unlabled N-S road is xisi beidajie; chegongzhuang metro is about 5 mins east on ping an dajie). & not that much remains of the original courtyard buildings, tho the courtyard's still nice...

I would highly recommend Downtown Backpackers.
Cheers!

I know some good hotels but not suitable for writers, unfortunately.
