Hey all-
just wanted to let u know that its easy, not like stated here in the forum before. we took an orgenized tour from Kathmandu to Lhasa, then stayed in Tibet until our visa+permit of 28 days was almost finished, then took the train to Xining and in 2 hours in the PSB there got another month in China...

The only bit thats different to what others have experienced was the availability of a Chinese visa in Xining.

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

I have been telling people for a long time that Golmud and Xining are the best places to change a group visa into a standard Chinese visa (though in the past not everyone has been able to change their visa so easily in Xining. I have been hearing many more success stories lately though).

it was on June 2007, we didn't get a regular chinese visa but we got our group visa extended for 1 month. now we tried to get it extended for another month in Yushu, but we only got 10 days, they say its because its a group visa....
anyone knows if we can extend it again in Urumqi?

latest report: we got another 10 days now in Urumqi's PSB and that'll be enough to exit to Kyrgyzsatn. in the PSB in Urumqi there's a really nice english speaker called Sua (or something like that) that helped us alot to get the not-allowed 3rd extension. if u want to extend your visa here - make sure to write down an authorized tourist hotel (ours wasn't).
