Staying in Jyekundo during horse festival

Seems like most of the hotels/hostels are already fully booked in Jyekundo during the horse festival (information from Losang). But I'm still hoping to find some empty spot. Does anybody know of a place that might have a free room, starting from July 25th? Or a reliable online booking system where I can check for empty rooms?

Otherwise I will have to rent camping gear in Xining and stay at the camping grounds of the festival or try to find a Tibetan family that allows us to stay (for a small fee). Anyone having experience with this? Since there is not too much information about these things on the internet, every comment is welcome!

This year all 6 counties of Yushu Tibet Autonomous Prefecture will be pooling their money together to host a large horse festival in Jyekundo. This year's horse festival will be much larger than previous years. Those of you who went to last years festival will remember that the festival was actually held in Batang and not in Jyekundo and only Yushu county put on the horse festival (most of the other counties put on their own horse festivals). This years festival should attract well over 40,000 people (mostly Tibetans) so accomodations are VERY hard to come by. If you do manage to get a room somewhere (you will be lucky if you do), prices will be 3 to 5 times the normal price.

For more information on this festival, feel free to email me or send me a private message. I hope to see you there!
