Yet another wonderful visit to a Thai dentist

Well, I just got back from getting the second half of a root canal and a temporary crown. It was painless, as professional as any dentist I've ever been to (I've got bad teeth, so that's a lot) and it was very reasonably priced. My female dentist (seems to be a lot of female dentists in Thailand) was cheery, friendly and caring.

If you need some dentistry and plan on visiting Phuket, I highly recommend .Promjai Dental Clinic I'm smiling more now :-)

That is true. Most of them at Bumrungrad are.
Only had 1 male dentist treat me, and wished I hadn't, as he was very rough, had a bad "bedside manner" and acted as though he was some kind of "god".

I had similar experiences in Chiang Mai at Grace Clinic. 24 Dentists, 17 of them female, all speaking perfect English, and each with a special skill (filling, root canal, extraction, scaling, etc). I saw 5 Dentists over 9 appointments - all female - and felt no pain. Impressive technology too. And very reasonable prices.

i HATE thai dentists. i have been to 3 of them. the worst one was a very thai place, i only paid 60b for a cleaning! i wish i had passed on that deal. the other two were more professional, but one gave me a filling with no anaesthetic (after which she was lucky i didn't murder her). i hate that cloth they put over your face with just a hole for the mouth- makes me so claustrophobic!

There are plenty of well trained and high standard dentists in Thailand.

Check out www.dentaltravelaustralia.com - they have a good list there.

I have all my dental work done in Thailand (Pattaya & Samui) I am very satisfied with it (also with the price)
I agree with girllrig about the cloth though.....

In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows or Gates?

I need some dental work done this year, and plan to visit Thailand in a few months. Any way to approximate the costs of dental work in Thailand compared to Australia? Crowns, fillings, bridge work, the lot. I need a fair bit of work done, and if the costs are a fraction of Aussie prices for the same thing, maybe I ought to consider waiting until I get to Thailand?

Suggestions? I don't think this is really a hijacking of this thread, as the OP got his/her point across, eh?

make sure you consider the time it may take and return visits. it you don't care about the money then get it done at home. i would.

I read somewhere that 80% of Bangkok's dentists are women, not sure how accurate that is.
