three from what I can figure out - one which I'm not sure about

1. cabs - there's two lines for cabs in Shenzhen, one which will be for destinations OUTSIDE of Shenzhen - that's the line you want. It won't be cheap - I mean it's 100 RMB just to get to the center of the city from the airport anyways. That city being Shenzhen This method is guaranteed, but the least recommended.

2. Direct buses. I believe they're still running through midnight. My flight into Shenzhen arrived after midnight and there were no buses. This will be the easiest and cheapest and most trustworthy

3. Those touts hanging around asking where you want to go. Also expensive, but you can agree on a flat fee, unlike the cabs. (actually you can with the cabs too)

http://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/ says that there is a train, T994 Shenzhen-Guangzhou at 03:20 can anyone verify?

The train station is in the city center - which is about a 30 minute (100 RMB) cab ride. If buses are still running they're 20 RMB.

I've got taxis from Shenzhen to Guangzhou before for about RMB 300-400. It may get a bit confusing though. Often, the taxi driver will agree to take you, but it won't actually be him that takes you all the way. He'll take you to some unofficial meeting place on the outskirts of Guangzhou, and then you'll be put in a taxi, or a private car, that's going to Guangzhou.

Nope, no such train as in #3. The latest train for Shenzhen -- Guangzhou is D784 (2246--2343) and the earliest train is D820 (0622--0719).
