What area?? I can't decide :(

Hi everyone,
I have looked through the FAQ page and searched the internet on info for Phuket, Krabi and Samui.
And now with all the info, I am so torn about where to go.
I will be there in late Nov/early Dec and can't decide which side to go.

I love to relax, sightsee, swim (pool & ocean), meet people and wander around looking. If I meet fellow travellers and hook up with them I would stay out and have a few drinks, but not into all night benders. So I probably would go for a huge party area.
I am female traveling alone.
Will be staying in backpackers most of the time and then a nice hotel for the last couple of nights.

If you had to choose one area because of time, where would you go and why?
I will be there for about 7 days.

Thanks very much
T

The Andaman is into its dry season that time of year whereas the Samui area usually has a month or more of wetter season to run.
I personally think Krabi is the go because it has such spectacular scenery in the beach areas. For your backpacking/socialising, Ton Sai beach might be the the best place, and you could book a few nights at one of the nice places with a pool on adjacent West or East Railay for the last couple of nights. Better get in quick for these though - they do get booked out early.
I have a fair bit of info on these places in the second link below.

Hi Tezza

I need a good map don't I??, the lonely planet book only has a tiny little pic.
Ton Sai, does that nice restruants, bars a central 'downtown' area at all?
Oppss sorry, I will go have a look at your website :)
I'm booking my flights in the next 2 weeks, so once I have my plans worked out between now and then I'll be booking then :)
Thanks

Youyesyou...
lol I very much doubt I'll be going back, I have an increasingly worsening back so its looking unlikely :( :(
I'm stopping off here before I go to South Africa, if I can manage it I may try and get back up that way for a couple of days before heading back to Oz.

Moody, check my blog info thingy on Ton Sai - but to give you more info - there are a number of bars and restaurants lining the beach area, plus quite a few more up the circular track. Great places to have a drink/eats, meet travellers. Ditto across at Railay, although that is a bit upmarket, not such a youngish area. East Railay at night is more for the younger crowd than West.

No downtown shopping areas. A couple of small general stores at Ton Sai, ditto Railay plus a small mall area with some general clothing and knick-knack shops.
However a 10 minute longtail ride gets you across to Ao Nang which has lots of shops and heaps of restaurants or bars. Krabi town is also a good place for shopping/eating but is a good 40 minutes from Ton Sai/Railay - but okay to check maybe on the way in or out from your bus or aircraft.

Ton Sai is a crowded dump.

Instead of designing yourself to fit the world, you can design a life to fit your abundant gifts

Kagboo,

You really are hopeless.

You couldnt even address the topic.

All you can do is stalk me around the forum. Pretty sad.

Booboy, you really need to grow up.

Acting like a 10yo that spilt his milk all the time like you do is very sad.
