landtravelling Kunming - Lhasa - Kathmandu

Hi there,

This is Olaf from Qufu, China.

I want to do the trip by land (mentioned in last LP of China, page 21) from Zhongdian to Lhasa, and afterwards from Lhasa to Kathmandu.

In LP I read that the first trip should be possible by hitch-hiking up to Lhasa, but here in China I hear stories about people getting sent back. I think my only option in both trips is to get an organised trip.

Anybody with current experience who can tell me whats the real deal in Tibett? I reicogn that the LP (with all do respect) is quite incurrent about China, so I dont trust their written stories about travelling into Tibett.

Tnx a bunch for helping me out! Now I will mail khampacaravan.com and shambala.org about my plans.... ;-)

Ganbei!

Olaf

I forgot to tell:

anybody who wants to join me organising a 4b4 up to Lhasa and maybe on to Kathmandu please do respond on olafharleman@yahoo.com

My agenda is to get in India from Kathmandu end of june, or juli the first., to meet with my girl. I guess I need a week from Kathmandu to Delhi, arranging visa and stuff like that. So I will be leaving from Lhasa to Kathmandu about tops halfway june.

I'd better get my ass down in Kunming before it turns june, so I have some spare time left. Damn, I am in a hury from Qufu (Shandong) training all the way down to Kunming......

Anybody care for joining?

Ganbei!

Olaf (32) from Holland
