HK, ZHONGDIAN/CHENDU, BEIJING

Hi,

I’m planning a 3 weeks trip to china this august with my family (5 p.). We are arriving to Hong Kong and leaving from Beijing. We will stay 3 days in HK and the last 5 days in Beijing. After HK we would like to go Tibet (mainly Lhasa, +/-4 days). I’ve read that now is a bit difficult to get the permit so I’ve thought that we could go to Lijiang and from there to Zhongdian and try to get the permit there

Is there a flight from Zhongdian to Lhasa? How much it would be? Should we better go to Chengdu?

I’ve already booked the hostel in Beijing which is the Red Lantern. Do you know it? I haven’t read a lot from this hostel in this forum and I would like to know your opinion about this hostel

You can't fly from Zhongdian to Lhasa. You will have to go to Chengdu. Plan to stay there for a few days, look around while you sort out your Tibet Travel Permit. Check out the Tibet thread. More info there.

The hostel is very nice in beijing . The master is simon , he is very friendly and gentle . I have been there 5 days ,very nice !
About tibet ,you can get to beijing ,you will know more information ! No worry !

You can fly from Zhongdian to Lhasa. I did it in April (2007). Got my Flight and Permit from Kampa Caravans in Zhongdian. Paid on Thursday afternoon and flew out Saturday morning. Nice people.
Return ticket and Permit was 2,400.

Currently there're 2 flights daily for Zhongdian -- Lhasa.
