Hong Kong / China excursion

Hi,

I have a work visa for Hong Kong, but would I be able to cross the border into China proper or do i need to apply for a new Chinese visa?

And is this the case if I only want to visit China for the weekend?

I have a British passport if that makes a difference.

Cheers,

Rich

Yes you need a visa, and as a British passport holder, you pay extra.

http://www.fbt-chinavisa.com.hk/ can sort you out.

If you have an HKID card, you can usually get a 6 month multi entry which works out cheaper if you plan to make several trips.

actually, if living in HK, I would get a multi entry.

The shortest sentence is "I am", the longest is "I do".

"One country - two systems"!! Hong Kong is NOT China from the point of visas. Most nationalities can get VOA at Shenzhen or Zhuhai that is just for 3 days in the SEZ but I have heard that it is harder for British passport holders (and more expensive) American passport holders cannot get VOA. I second Harry - if you are in HKG for a while get a multi-entry Chinese visa.
