Goa or Kerala

Hello,

I will have about 10 days in South India in October and can't decide between south Goa or Kerala. My budget is about $30 USD per day. I like a bit of culture, nature and laid back beaches. Also, the backwater excursion in Kerala sounds interesting... Any itinerary suggestions appreciated.

Thank you.

Not quite mad party season in Goa in October, starting to get busy but if you want all night partying it starts later. If you head down to Kerala it's beautiful. Fort Cochi is a beautiful spot and handy for the backwater tours. If you head down to Kovalam south of Trivandrum then Lighthouse/hawa beach is a great spot to while away a few days. Cochi to trivandrum on the train is only 5 hours.
best of luck,
FF

Hi
I just booked for my family to Kerala it is Gods own country

you can book thru expedia.ca and they will also give you points for booking the hotel

You have to type under other Trivandrum / now called thiruvananthapuram which is the capital of Kerala
The Bakers hotel is very cheap and only $22.50 or so Canadian you can also click and see what kind of a hotel it is and how far it is from the back waters

You can also go into www.desiya.com or call 321-284-4188 or 1-877337-4922 you will get a live person and will be connected to N. Delhi Desiya. They take international credit cards but when you go there they will swipe your cards..
Make sure when you phone them you have logged into the Desiya website so that you and the person on the other end will be on the same page The bakers hotel is about $18 or so canadian
Make sure you open the confirmation right away while the agent is at the other end.

You can visit the backwaters, kovalam beach, take a nice ayurvedic message. see the sunset Once you are in the hotel you can go for the tours conducted.
You can also go to Kannyakumari which is about 87 km from trivandrum the southern tip of india and see the Swami Vivekananda Rock and sunset

I booked for my family at comfort inn grand thru expedia.ca it was only $30 Canadian with free breakfast. it is in Trivandram. I thought that it is cheaper to go by taxi to the kovalam beach rather than paying heft amounts to be close to the beach.

I used the desiya for a stay at kodaikanal. Excellent service, i came to know of them towards the end of the planning of my family's holiday
You just need to print the confirmation and have a photo id
enjoy your hols

Both are great. There is probably more sightseeing to be done in Kerala than there is in Goa, but the Portugese influence in Goa is pretty special. The beaches of southern Goa are slightly more picturesque than those in Kerala in my opinion.

GOA i would say, the beaches down south especially MAJORDA BEACH. All south Goa is a must great people, good food and very cheap. KERALA is a bit more expensive, if you plan
to go cruising the Back waters i would increase your expenditure. KERALA is realy beatiful and i had a fantastic time there, but i found GOA beaches to be the best.

I'm with #5. I particularly loved the Portuguese influence, and yes, the Southern Beaches are unbeatable. They're quiet, relaxed, laid-back, cheap, and very beautiful.

I would like to recommend kerala, the god's own country. It is true that goa has got beautiful beaches but kerala offers best beaches and backwaters to enjoy your holidays

Both places are great. Kerala has less tourists than Goa and is such an amazing experience. Make sure you spend a few days in Old Kochi and buy fresh fish near the fishing nets and get them prepared for lunch at the many restaurants and bars in the area.
