8 days in Thailand

I plan to spend 8 days in Thailand, starting somethimes end of the next week.

I plan to stay in Bangkok several days, and remaining 4-5 days I plan to spend somewhere near, ideally if is on the beach with diving options for beginner.

I would be very grateful for any info about:

1. Accommodation in Bangkok, price range 20-40 USD. Hot water and air con.
2. Place near Bangkok suitable for beginner diving. Please note that I do not want to fly, everything 2-3 hours far by bus or train will be fine.
3. Other places of interest around of Bangkok, suitable for daily tours.
4. Reputable local tour operator for possible 3-6 day tour.

I am aware that majpority of this questions could be found in Travel guides as well as doing search on the branch but at the moment I am in part of Indonesia where I can not buy any travel guide and with very limited internet.

Thanks in advance!

1. Check out the Soi rambuttri Village Inn hotel, near Kao San road. Nice rooms and a rooftop swimming pool. About 15-20 USD for a 2p. room.

Here are some answers to your questions:

1. Check out this list of Budget Accommodations
2. For diving travel to Pattaya it's only 2 hrs from Bangkok.
3. Visit Ayutthaya (old capital of Thailand) and floating market.
4. No idea..

Here's also my Must Do List:

1. Check out Bangkok throughly (Grand Palace, Jatujak weekend market, Khao San road at night, river tour of the Chao Praya river (day and night) + floating market. If have time visit Ayuthaya (ancient city) and Pattaya (beach resort) both are just two hours from Bangkok.

2. Eating fried bugs from a road side stall

3. An early visit to the Klong Toey fresh market??

4. Get a tailor made suit/clothes. They are cheap and good I would recommend The Versaces (in front of sukhumvit soi 7) ask for Danny. I get my clothes made with him.

5. Take a motor bike taxi ride through the traffic of Bangkok - not recommended for those with heart problem haha!!

6. Take a passenger boat along one of Bangkok's most busy and crowded canals. It's call Klong Saen Sab (The canal of pain). You will get to see the backside of bangkok - how people actually live!! You can get on the boat opposite Central World Plaza (near the junction with petchaburi Road).

7. Go to a spa/massage it's cheap and you're gonna love it. Most of the hotels will have one. Thai massage a must!!

8. Thai food recommend - tom yum (herbal soup), somtam (papaya salad) and phad Thai.

9. Take a Tuk Tuk ride in Bangkok.

10. Watch a Thai Boxing match.

11. Visit a dentist (if you need to) It's cheap and of high standard.

cheers..
