Going to Samui in June

Hi all,
I am planning a trip to Koh Samui in June...but lately i heard about the instability of Thailand, especially in tourist region, and I also heard about a Russian lady was killed in Samui sometime ago......

Is it still safe to go to Samui?

Yes, Samui is relativey safe, and unaffected by the strife. Just go, you won't regret it.

But a Swedish man was killed a couple of months ago in Samui (Chaweng)
and an English lady raped and killed last year (Lamai)
A Dutch woman was killed some years ago in Maenam.

Probably I forget 2 or 3........

(Last month 5 people murdered and 3 attempts,
but all Thai, so mai penrai)
12 people died in roadaccidents last month.

Louvan: Do I have to be more than happy that I did not lose any guest during the last 5 years??
OP: Instead of going with fear leave it. But you have a 99,9 % chance to enjoy Samui and to return safely.

Indeed Ying, you must be more than happy.
The British lady was killed near your place (New Hut)

But I agree with you about 99,9 % chance,
although somebody (jalous Thai ex boyfriend) did cut the
throat of the woman of an Australian guy and his child in
Lipa Noi 2 months ago. Very near my house.

His house is now for sale by the way.

But 99,9% is an interesting percentage.
Does this mean that 1 in 1000 will not enjoy and return safely?
Probably a right figure if you include roadaccidents. :o)

Louvan - I am not too bad in getting percentages over the thumb...But I am not going to buy a house in Lipa Noi, thinking about the spirits... ( and could not afford it).
