travelling in August

I realize it will be hot, and humid most places in August.....I want to visit Sichuan province (Juizhagou, Huanglong, Emeishan..mostly outdoor stuff), does it get very wet which will hamper outdoor activities? I only have two weeks, but must be in Zhejiang first for business and then Beijing, so want to get away from the crowds...I was also thinking of maybe Tibet, but don't want to deal with high altitude problems..any suggestions? Interested in mostly outdoor scenery...

It is not, but not that humid any more as the monsoon season is over by then. However it rains quite often. I suggest you check the weather forcast before you make up your travel decision.

Actually August is one of the best seasons to visit Jiuzhaigou, Huanglong and Emeishan. The climate is fine, not hot as you are visiting the mountains. Actually you still need to bring some jumpers. You like outdoor activities, I even recommend that you take a bus tour to Langmusi, and Xiahe Laburang Monastery (tibetan area), then to Lanzhou where you can take flight to your next destination. This trip may take you around one week usually. Hope this would be of some help. Wish you all the best.

I love traveling, I love reading, and most importantly, I love PEACE(internal and external).

My family and I were in Chengdu and area at the end of July (this was last year) - it was relatively humid (it depends what you are comparing to) but it was OK. I remember going through the Panda Research Base -- the day was relatively overcast due to the humidity, but it was also nice, because the sun was blocked... Enjoy your trip

Thanks...I've visited Yunnan two years ago...I guess I'll just go and see what happens. Does anyone know how high songpan is? I suffer from high altitude sickness so don't want to suffer through that again. Thanks again

Songpan is on appprox. 2800 meters a.s.l. but it's really deep in the valley. If you move anywhere upstream you'd have to go much higher. I don't know about Jiuzhaigou but on the road to Zoige and Langmusi crosses a 3800 m pass.

check google earth for the details, they show altitude
