i should maybe point out that even if i didn't have any problems, you still might. there are post here that talk about people being refused entry. technically speaking you should have proof of onward travel. i was never asked and i don't know anyone that was either, but it can happenbe water my friend

You didn't mention if you were flying into Thailand. It is often the airlines that are charged with enforcing the outbound visa rules so your initial departure check-in is where you may encounter difficulty. I'd suggest checking with your airline.7
