Nepal to Tibet Altitude Sickness

Hi.
We are travelling from Nepal to Tibet in June on an organised 10 day trip via everest base camp.

We arrive 2 days before the trip starts. Does anyone know how badly altitude sickness can affect on a trip such as this?

I'm guessing 2 days isn't a great amount of time to acclimatize and we are going to be driving up to higher altitude for most of the time.

Has anyone done this trip before, been affected by altitude sickness or have any advice?

Thanks,

westwood

ITNERARY:
Day 01: Kathmandu to Kodari. Cross boarder then drive to Nyalam (3750 m.)
Day 02: Nyalam - Tingri (4350 m.)
Day 03: Tingri - Everest Base Camp (4920 m.)
Day 04: Everest Base Camp to Shigatse (3900 m.)
Day 05: Shigatse - Gyantse - Lhsasa - LEAVE THE TOUR

From Trekkers Society may give you an idea of their acclimatisation. Not one i'd like to do especially after doing EBC from Lhasa.

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

When you drive from Kathmandu to Tibet you are always on risk because you gain altitude much too fast. Some tours make an extra day at Nylam to acclimatize. It makes no difference to be more days in Kathmandu as it is not at high altitude. Its different if you do some high altitude trekking before in Nepal and then head directly to Tibet.
