Help me decide between Krabi & Koh Sumai!!

Hi- I'm planning a trip to Thailand for the first week of June and am deciding between Krabi and Koh Sumai. I heard that the waters/weather are worse on the west during this time. Is this true? Mostly, I want to swim and enjoy the beaches, but I've also heard such great things about Krabi!

Also, I have a few other basic transportation questions...
Can I fly from Chang Mai to Koh Sumai?
If I fly from CM into Phuket and then bus it to Koh Sumai, would you advise staying in Phuket for the day/night? What is the best way to get from Phuket to Koh Sumai? I'd prefer an overnight bus, jus to save daylight time for the beach!
Finally, are there trains from Koh Sumai back to BKK?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Did you mean Koh Samui?
Andaman coast Phuket and Krabi will have some rain in June but not that much. More rains in Sept or Oct. Andaman coast is more stunning than gulf coast. You can still swim or enjoy beaches in Krabi if going that time.
To your question. There's only one airline, Bangkok Air, flies to Koh Samui (because they own the airport). There's no direct Chiang Mai - Samui you have to go via Bangkok. It's a good idea to stay in Phuket for a few days if you do fly to Phuket. It has a lot to offer.
You can take bus from Phuket to Samui or fly. Overnight bus is ok or day bus if you want to see scenery. Road from Phuket to Samui is quite scenic and not a long distance. You can take train to Bangkok from Surat Thani. However train will take a long time.

Listen, Samui generally does have less rain and more sunshine than Krabi in June.
But having said that, if this June is typical, it is no barrier to travel to Krabi. Railay and Phra-Nang are so much more spectacular than Samui (which aint exactly shabby) and in low season are pretty laid back. A recent post said she much preferred her July 2006 visit to her Feb 9d (dry seaon} 2007 visit.

See link 1 below for more abt the weather and link 2 for a fair bit of detail on the Krabi area.

Gotta disagree - West Railay and Phra-Nang are two of the most spectacular beaches landscape wise in Thailand, and are pretty nice for swimming, particularly Phra-Nang.
Mr Rough is maybe thinking abt the crowds of people they attract in high season making them "pretty ordinary", and here I am starting to agree, more so each visit. But Manz is going low season in June, and these places tend to be pretty unstressed then.

Samui is popular all year, but likewise more relaxed low season, and the lovely east coast of the island gets fewer people and is laid back even in high season.

Jum is real nice although nowhere near as visually spectacular as Railay-Phra Nang and Phi Phi. Access is more difficult when the Krabi-Jum-Lanta ferry stops running in low season. I have some details on Jum low season access in the link below.
