TTP from shanghai hostels

Just a quick question.

Can anyone recommend a hostel (or decent reliable travel agent) in shanghai that can arrange the tibet travel permit (and the shanghai-lhasa train tickets preferably at the same time). When I was in Beijing I noticed that quite a few hostels do this service (leo, 365inn, and one other i forget the name) but in shanghai its proving to be a bit more difficult.

Any recommendations gratefully received.

Thanks

Steve

OK, you can email to tibetexpert@tibet4holiday.com to arrange for it. They provide train ticket and tibet permit arrangement services from Shanghai/Beijing/Guangzhou/Chendu/Xining/Xian to Lhasa and from Lhasa to China.

Thanks for the info henry.

After I wrote the post I managed to find a company called "Tibetmate" (www.tibetmate.com) who will arrange the permit for me. Unfortunately their price (1000Y per person) seem to be double that of the companies in Beijing who offer the same service (for around 500-550Y per person) so we've decided to get a train to Chengdu and sort it out from there, as it seems there is more competition and hence lower prices, and we also get to see Chengdu rather than hanging around in the rain here in Shanghai for another week.

For the benefit of anyone who must arrange a tibet permit in Shanghai, the details of the company are:

Address: Room 103
350 Wuning Road (United Building)
Shanghai

Postcode: 200063

Tel: 021-62578447 62572413

Email: tibetmate@tibetmate.com

Wuning Road is roughly 4-5 km from peoples square (west/north-west direction) and costs about 22-26Yuan in a taxi from there.
The company seems fairly professional, appears to have a permanent office, and about half a dozen staff. The guy we spoke to this morning talked us through the procedure and said he could garuntee the permit within 1 week, but most likely 3-4 working days at the most.

I can't comment on anything else as we decided not to use this company, but like I said, hopefully this information will be of some use to someone else.

Thanks

Steve
