visa requirements for Australians

Hi there,
What are the visa requirements for australians travelling to China? My OH has just found out he's flying to shanghai next month for work and we cant find anything on the embassy website. I havent been there since '91 and cant for the life of me remember if I needed one or not.
Thanks in advance.

A business or tourist visa? A 30 day 'L' or 'luxing' tourist visa for China is around $30 US, & can be purchased in either Australia or HK. Takes 3 working days.

I got my first visa at the consulate in Sydney. after that I had my employer in Beijing organise it, and after that, I learned that it was much easier to do it all in Hong Kong. Same day or next day service in Hong Kong. I use these people: FBT

It is possible to get it the same day at the Embassy/Consultate in Australia if you pay for express processing

If there is no food, isn't that food for thought?
And if you are bored and want to know more about our Chinese teaching experience, there is our website to read.

You can get the visa in Sydney or melbourne, and it takes four days. Check out the website of www.chinatravel.com.au, where you can download an application form and get the costs.

I got my 30 day visa direct from the Embassy in Canberra and it cost $50 and took 3 working days.

Both Australia & HK have a tiered payment system, eg in Hong Kong: 3 days notice $30, 2 days $60, 1 day $90.
