Length of travel permit to Tibet?

I've searched the forum and I can't find how long a travel permit to tibet is valid for.

I know i can obtain one without a tour from some travel agencies in China but how long does the actual permit go for?

As long as your Chinese visa is valid.

Right! Thanks for that.

So I get my Chinese visa before I depart and then when I book my flight to Lhasa in Beijing they will give me a Tibet travel permit which is valid until my Chinese visa expires, right?

This doesn't bugger up my Chinese visa does it? If my chinese visa is a single entry visa and I get a travel permit into Tibet, will my Chinese visa still be valid for me to travel out of Tibet and back into China again?

Tibet (TIbetan Autonomous Region) is part of China. Tibet Travel Permit has no impact on your China visa. It allows you to 'enter' Tibet (Tibetan Autonomous Region). To 'enter' TAR you need a permit; to leave TAR you don't.

Leaving TAR is not entering China as Tibet is part of China.

if your visa is multi entry, you can enter China more than once, from OUTSIDE China (Pakistan, Nepal, Russia etc).

Khema - I know Tibet is part of China but the Chinese government is so weird about the way it treats access to Tibet that I thought it was worth asking.

Thanks for the guys. I think I'm sorted now.
