How many days in advance can I buy a ticket for a T train?

I've read conflicting information about how far in advance train tickets go on sale: some sites say tickets for T trains go on sale 10 days in advance, others, 4. I'll be flying into Beijing from Canada on April 24th and overnighting before training it to Handan on the 25th. I'll be back in Beijing on May 1st and staying through the 4th when I'll be once again training to Handan. Will I be able to buy a ticket for a T train originating in Beijing (for example, T 9 or T 57) on either the 24th or 25th? Or will I need to go through agent to purchase a ticket sometime between the 25th and 1st? From what I've read I'd be crazy to show up on Beijing on the 1st expecting to be able to grab a ticket for the 4th. And it is important that I travel on the 4th.

Many thanks,

Susan

May 1 is national holiday, so maybe more crowded than usual. Otherwise, one day advance is all you need to purchase train tickets. For soft sleepers, you may have to go through a travel agent in Beijing, otherwise, just show up at the ticket window and buy your tickets. Straightforward. It helps if you speak good Madarin

As above says May 1st is the Golden Week holiday and millions of Chinese will be moving about for their week of by train! You would need to try and book ahead for sure.

We leave for Beijing on Saturday and have used an agent to buy our train tickets so we could keep moving and not get held up if we could'nt get them and they have said 4 days in advance.

According to my calculations, you should be able to buy your May 4th ticket on either 24th or 25th April. Good luck! :)
Cheers!
