About 125 to 150 RMB...Pudong (I assume) to downtown by taxi. There are buses to various locations but they are God-awful slow.

Actually, the airport shuttles are useful and not that bad.
OP, which hotel are you going to?
No, you can't get pre-paid taxis at the airport.
Cheers!

Yeah the taxis are quite good in shanghai.
150 - 180 max at that time of night -
All cabs have meters that sart at 11rmb during the day and 14rmb later at night.
Usually cabbies in Sh are quite trustworthy but there are a few scammers out there - I've heard of meters starting at 300rmb and people getting chanrged stupid prices - If you think you've been had get a reciept- write down the taxi drivers lisence nuber and get the nuber plate as well. Go to the police station and get your money back with interest.

As far as I know, no. That place is getting popular with travellers, I've recently met so many travellers who've booked there.
The best way would probably be to take airport shuttle no.3 and make sure the ticket-seller and driver know that you want to get off at Da Pu Qiao, as that's not the final terminus. From there it should be walking distance or a short taxi ride (since you're arriving at night when it'll be dark) to your hotel.
Cheers!
